MIST Results in BEAR SUMMIT 2025

The BEAR Summit (Biotech, Electronics, AI, Robotics), held on July 16–17 at the National Science and Technology Complex in Agargaon, Dhaka, was co-organized by the ICT Division and BCC under the EDGE Project, with support from the World Bank.

Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, attending as chief guest, emphasized the importance of digital public infrastructure, a National AI Policy, and a Bangla-language AI model to empower youth and semiconductor entrepreneurs.

The event welcomed over 2,500 participants — including 60% students and 40% professionals — and featured more than 300 posters and demos, with international attendees joining virtually. Experts from academia, industry, government, and the diaspora — including representatives from BUET, Dhaka University, MIST, Purdue, MediaTek, SK Hynix, Ulkasemi, and Neural Semiconductor — discussed key areas such as talent pipelines, cybersecurity, biotech, and robotics.

A highlight of the summit was the roadmap presented by the newly formed Semiconductor Taskforce, outlining near-term goals in skills development, chip design, testing, and packaging, along with a long-term vision for full-scale manufacturing.

As part of the summit, Major General Md Nasim Parvez, BSP, ndc, afwc, psc, Commandant of MIST, contributed as a panelist, sharing insights into MIST’s ongoing efforts and future plans to build semiconductor talent in Bangladesh. Three additional MIST faculty members also participated in panels on topics including AI talent development, AI-enhanced cybersecurity, and robotics for Industry 4.0 and 5.0.

Demonstrating its innovation leadership, MIST had four projects selected for a high-visibility showcase and set up a dedicated stall in the Innovation Pavilion alongside nine other universities, top semiconductor companies, and government organizations.Top 15 among 1500+ Posters at BEAR Summit from MIST:

A proud achievement for MIST was the selection of a poster from the EECE Department (Level-4) —“High Speed and Low Power 8-bit 12-Function ALU Using Transmission Gate Logic in 90nm Technology,” authored bySaquib Farhan, Sadman Rahman, Saiba Aabira, Gourab Datta, Sunjida Sultana, and Md Tawfiq Amin —which was chosen among the Top 15 out of more than 1500 posters in the Semiconductor Category. The poster was presented by Saquib Farhan before a full audience, marking a significant milestone for MIST on the national stage.

In addition to this, MIST’s strong presence was reflected in remarkable results at the BEAR Summit 2025.

In the Demos for Digital Display category, MIST achieved top honors:

In the Robotics Category, the team behind “Robo-008 – QRARG-HeadBot: Intelligent Head-Bot, an AI-Based Cognitive Platform” claimed the Champion position. This project was presented by Lyudmila Suha, a BSc 4th Year student of the Department of CSE, MIST, with team members Rafi Nahiyan, Nazifa Hassan Chowdhury, and M. Akhtaruzzaman.

In the AI Category, the project “AI-047 – Artificial Kinetic Intelligence (AKI), the AutoML Web Tool” earned 1st Runner-Up. This work was presented by Fahim Shahryer, Junior Researcher at QRARG, alongside his team members M. Akhtaruzzaman, Jamal Uddin Tanvin, and Sachitra Halder.

In the Poster for Digital Display category, MIST secured the 2nd Runner-Up position in the BioTech Category with the project “Bio-006 – GCAF-Net: Deep CNN with Grad-CAM for Classifying Rare Medicinal Plants in Bangladesh.” This poster was presented by Sadman Rahman, a BSc 4th Year student from the Department of EECE, MIST, with team members Saquib Farhan, Saiba Aabira, and Kazi Newaj Faisal.
